Does every student have to do behind-the-wheel and pay the deposit?
Yes. Every driver's ed student, online or in-class, must complete the 6 hours of behind-the-wheel driving with us and pay the $200 deposit.
What is the minimum age to enroll?
15 years old.
What are my options and what do they cost?
Online + 6 hrs behind-the-wheel: $395 plus the cost of the online course (through our Indiana-approved partner DriversEd.com, done at your own pace).
In-Class + 6 hrs behind-the-wheel: $425 all inclusive. The 30-hour class is held in summer, one week Mon–Fri, 10am–4:30pm. See 2027 dates.

Why are there three different websites?
Three separate things: (1) the online class is run by our partner DriversEd.com, (2) our registration form tells us about your student, and (3) our payment page takes your $200 deposit. The Get Started checklist puts them in order for you.
What happens after we enroll?
Once you register and pay the $200 deposit, we mail the CDE form — the Indiana BMV Certification of Driver Education Enrollment. Online students: mailed within 48 hours. In-class students: mailed 3 weeks before class. The BMV requires this form to issue a learner's permit.
How does my teen get a permit?
With the CDE form, a student 15 or older can get a learner's permit by passing the BMV vision screening and written knowledge test and bringing required ID documents. Study the Indiana Driver's Manual.
How do we schedule driving lessons?
How are the 6 hours of driving split up?
Four appointments: Session 1 (1 hour), Session 2 (1 hour), Sessions 3 & 4 together (2 hours), and Sessions 5 & 6 together (2 hours). They are usually about 3–4 weeks apart.
What should we bring to driving lessons?
The physical learner's permit (a photo is not enough), comfortable clothes and shoes (no sandals or open-toed shoes), and glasses or contacts if needed. We provide the car.
Do you offer sibling discounts?
Yes. The first student enrolls at full price; each sibling gets 15% off the in-class course and driving fees.
How can we pay?
Check or money order by mail, or Visa/MasterCard online (5% online handling fee). Deposits are non-refundable. See pricing.
What if we need to cancel a drive?
A $50 fee may be charged if a drive is cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice, the student isn't at the pickup spot on time, declines to drive, or doesn't have the permit in hand. Call us right away about illness or emergencies.
Can we get a refund?
Refund requests must be made within 24 hours of payment. No refunds once the student has received the signed CDE form or has started driving, or if the student chooses not to finish. Enrollment can't be transferred once paperwork is issued.
Can my teen take the road test with you?
Only WCDS students may take the final drive test with our instructors ($35). We don't offer tests to the public, and our cars can't be rented for BMV tests.
What does it take to pass the driving test?
Show a good understanding of the rules of the road, operate the vehicle safely and confidently, and make good driving decisions. Our instructors will prepare you.
Do you offer private lessons?
Yes. Private lessons for anyone not enrolled in our driver's ed are $75 per hour. Each private lesson is one hour, and anyone with a current permit can schedule one. Students enrolled in our driver's ed who want extra behind-the-wheel time pay $60 per hour. Call or text 260-503-8686 to schedule. More about private lessons.
What happens after the 6 hours of driving?
Once your student finishes the six hours of behind-the-wheel driving with one of our licensed instructors, we provide the proper paperwork to take to the Indiana BMV to get their license.
How much practice is required at home?
Indiana requires 50 hours of supervised driving, including 10 at night. Use the Supervised Practice Driving Log (PDF).
